2013 LX570. I want to replace my charging port compartment as the lid is no longer functioning. I have the replacement on hand. I have the cup holder out, the two leather side trims, and parking brake cover removed. I know I'll have to take off the shift ball. But how do I proceed from here to get the main shift bezel and switch bank out?

I haven't had that specific console apart, but I've had it apart on a '13 and '16 land crusier.

The shift knob unscrews. The console pulls straight up, just being held by plastic clips. There are multiple electrical connectors to unplug. Mine had three items that needed to be unclipped - that grey box to the left, and two brackets that wires are attached to. They were tricky to undo, since they aren't very accessible - they need clips depressed at either side to remove them.

This is 2013. I once found a video on this but now I can't find it again. I remember that video showing the tough to get electrical connectors. I am fairly sure it pulls straight up but it looks like the ashtray section needs to come out first. It also appears to be underneath the front cover of the cooler box. Maybe that needs removal first as well. And maybe mine is glued down with 7 years previous owner spilling sugar drinks all over it. I've already cleaned out a pile of hair, earings, etc.

The front of the cooler box on mine came
off with prying. Just held by plastic clips.

Following. How'd you get the cup holder out? I wonder if our prior owners were related due to their obsession with soft drinks.

That came out pretty easy by pulling straight up. Just held in with plastic tabs with tiny bumps for catches. I'm going to wait till others chime in before I really go prying on the rest of it. I don't drink soft drinks and neither does my wife. But she is queen of spillage. She is not allowed to have an open container in the vehicle. Her nickname is Mayhem.

Take ok the shift knob and pull straight up on the console. It’s held on just like the cup holder.

Those commercials are hilarious and painfully relevant.

That shift knob looks like it is aftermarket with a set screw? The stock ones are threaded on and come right off.

Yes it has 3 set screws and does not thread on. But on the video I saw once, which I can't find anymore, the knob was exactly the same as mine. I think the pictures you posted are from a newer model than my 2013. Slight difference from mine.

I understand that yours is a different year. I'm just trying to help as best I can. My 2013 land cruiser and 2016 land cruiser had screw on shift knobs. I've never even sat in an LX, so I don't have any experience there to share.

Funny thing is when I take it off the shaft is threaded yet the knob itself will not thread down. Just spins freely until I set all 3 tiny Allen set screws. And I have to tighten the hell out of it to get the knob from spinning.

Thanks for all your help. It came out quite easily once I busted it free of various glue like substances likely from spilled sugar drinks mixed in a matrix of long curly blonde hair. The bad news it is a difficult area to clean properly. But the good news is it came apart without breaking anything and I just found out I paid 87 cents less when I bought it earlier this summer! Any tips to polish up the wood or fake wood finish now that it is exposed? @CharlieS

Great news, thanks for reporting back. Sorry, I don't have any ideas for the trim polishing. I'm sure some other folks here do though. Maybe start a new thread, so it isn't buried?
