Gavman,

the 1 and 2nd pics in post 14 are the way it will be traveling for that is the lowest position which is about 18" from lids to bottom of rack pole, and lifted when camping goes up about another 12" I guess? I will try it out soon for I have never even pulled behind BJ42 yet since it is not finished being restored but super close now. I will post back how it does, the rack works really good with the locking pins on each corner when in up or down position and the gas springs are great.

What are the part numbers for the kindorf supports and where did you get them? Also what type of conduit did you use for the rack? This is exactly what I want to do to my trailer.

My father is an electrician, no part numbers, u can get at any Homedepot/ Lowes store though

I really like what you did. :D NICE!

Looks like emt pipe, what diameter did you use?

It looks like 1 1/2" or 2" ?

Thank for the info,

Richard

picked up a few things for the camp trailer. NOS Military 15000 BTU mutlifuel heater runs off either 24Vdc or 110Vac. Also picked up these Military amphibious vehicle aluminum steps that I will place somewhere to make it easier to sleep on lid of trailer. Having a local canvas shop make a snap on tent type system for underneath the RTT when it is raised therefore I can sleep one more on lid which will have big zippered screen and solid windows. Now I am looking for a very small window A/C unit for summer months that I can plumb flex hose into both RTT and underneath sleeping area.

This trailer is looking really good. Nice setup on the tent supports. Are you seeing any issue with the lid system, ie leak, dust rain, noise. Looks secure and definately strong. Nice aquisition on the military stuff, can holders, heater, Keep up the good work.

thanks, I havnt put seals in yet to truly weatherproof it though everything underneath is in military aluminum boxes with seal and pelican cases so if after I do put seals in it still leaks a little I wont be too worried. it is heavy but yes sturdy. I found a perfect mattress that fits the correct length and as wide as the vertical poles are set apart and it will raise high enough in camp position so that someone would be able to sit upright under it. it now sports BF Goodrich 255/85-16 tires to match cruiser as well.

found on fleabay, they came off a Military amphibious vehicle?

Got a little more done. Installed a nice aluminum tongue storage box after I sandblasted and painted (still need to paint face of with vehicle color), test fitted a military cot mosquito net for this summers Florida keys camping trip on beach coming up, it fit perfect and will have a canvas shop make a black canvas flaps to cover all sides completely when RTT raised and tent is deployed above this sleeping area. Trimmed the fenders because the 255/85-16 tires were dangerously close if I was to hit a big bump, installed Kanz kitchen hanging brackets on rear of tailgate, mounted license plate on fender.

Roberto,
I like that nose box with the built in steps. Any idea its original source?

Coming along nicely.

I wish I did, I found on eBay from a seller in which he only had one but he deals in a lot of military surplus. It's heavy aluminum and perfect size for the CDN M101. Sorry, there are no markings of mfg on it

You were thinking the same as me I wanted to make a bunk on the lid also...
Let me know how it works out.

Will do. Actually found some super tough pliable military foam rubber with adhesive backing in which I covered each lid section and then bolted down the tie downs which pulled them flush into the foam nicely, the painted the entire interior with rust bullet and purchased two more stainless gas springs and going to mount one on each outside corner post instead of the two in center. Purchased the pulley man small gear winch battery drill driven winch to pull it all down from the deployed position. Mounted a heavy gauge PVC pipe to hold my 10' telescoping military aluminum pole that will be my patriotic flag pole. Copied a design from buyers hammocks of a tripod hammock holder. Basically it serves as the other end to support a hammock if you only have one tree or attachment point. I made this one from 3/4" heavy pipe and then you drive big stake in ground and attach rope from triangle/ pyramid stand to driven in ground stake and rope from one end of hammock to triangle then done.
