This has been a nagging problem for a while and I'm hoping someone has an idea or similar experience.

When I park the truck on our driveway (slightly angled) the CDL light comes on when you start it. Not every time, but 50/50 if the truck has been siting for more than a day. While the light is on, you can't use cruise control but everything else functions as normal. After a short drive if you turn it off and restart the light stays off.

Naturally it did not do this when it was at the dealer for its last service or at the independent shop for a new starter. Does not throw any problem codes that show up on the ScanGauge app.

Thanks it's a '14 with about 120K miles.

Quite a few of us have this issue. Mine had been consistent for almost a week up until the day I was taking it to a shop earlier this week.
Here's some of the threads that have a decent conversation about it.

This is what fixed it for me. From intermittent issues, to working less than 50% of the time. After fix it's been working solid without any flashing CDL occurrences.

I'm convinced this is the solution to these intermittent CDL issues.

I am too but I'm not brave enough to disassemble the motor housing.

Like @FerzLC notes this seems to happen more frequently with cold weather, at least to me. I can go months without an issue in the summer but then camp in Colorado for the night and when I wake up with temps in the 40s it's about 50/50 whether the light is flashing when I start up.

Matt, when this happens have you tried going into 4Lo? I assume it doesn't work (it doesn't for me) but just curious. I hadn't noticed the issue with cruise control. Also if you turn the truck off and back on does it clear? In my experience the flashing won't clear unless the transfer case warms up. Once it does you can turn the truck off and back on and the light will go away and then the CDL will engage if you try it.

I did notice recently that when the CDL goes stupid the flashing is faster than when you press the CDL button and it's trying to engage but needs you to move forward or back slightly for it to catch. Not that the different speed means anything except "error" vs "trying to operate".
