Hey guys, yet another catch can thread..
Apologise for that.
Car is a 1992 1hdt 5sp man, 80 series gxl.
420xxx kms, no blowby with oil cap test.
Long story short, car was making more airy sound when accelerating before boost, no loss in power, i found a nasty leak of black sooty oil around the front of my turbo(factory), and a little bit from a lose Clamps at the top where it enters my Intake. Due having an injury I can't inspect my self the source so I had my mechanic have a look.
I was worried my turbo was on its way out but apparently it's fine , turbo has a minuscule amount of play but rest is fine, his only slight concern was a bit of blowby through my rocker cover breather and the noise sounds normal.
While inspecting we found my hose for oil drain is also kinked and I'll be replacing that shortly.
He has told me to just go for a catch can to help any excess oil and monitor.
I'm really tossing and turning on doing this as I've read some people highly rate them, others completely hate them.
I've been told to ensure if I do make sure I have appropriate hose sizes so I don't starve the engine and create bad pressure.
For those who's used a catch can on their 1hdt which models have you used and any tips for hose sizes and mounting, links would be appreciated.
I've also read to just redirect my hose to chassis for free rust protection too.
