You can run any after market cat that meets spec for the rig, only need one. For Maricopa county emissions, on a OBD2 rig, they don't even look, so as long as the ECU is happy, no codes, it will pass.

When going aftermarket dont get the cheapest available. Step up and get a good quality one. I have seen a LC recently where it kept throwing "insufficient flow" codes due to el cheapo cat put on it. The code will keep you from passing emissions.

The OE ones are full of precious metals like Irridium, etc that make it work fantastic. They are also super expensive and are priced out of reach.

Thats why Toyota cats are so popular with thieves...with the high amount of expensive and rare metals in them, they get top dollar from the recyclers. Had 3 trucks come in last week with Cats cut off.

What brands do you recommend that aren't the "cheapies"? Can I really get away with one? What is a OBD2 rig? (sorry. New to Land Cruisers)

I saw a post that there is a muffeler shop that was a recommended by a member. Do you think I can go there and just have them do the entire system from Motor to end?

Probably the far side of the valley for you, but Mesa Muffler in downtown Mesa has had experience on a number of OBDII Landcruisers/Lexus. They have been able to install a tidy setup for a reasonable price. If you can make it to the meeting on 8/20, you should be able to see one or more examples of their work. John
