Carpets going bad

So the carpets in my 83 40 are in decent shape....except for the underside. The rubber is deteriorating, Is there something I could spray / paint on the underside to stabilize them? They're not worn out & I'd like to preserve them in some way. Thanks

What to do? Purchased some black tinted dipit. Says right on the can that it can be used on fabric. Used a disposable brush and painted the back side of the carpets. Fast drying and did the trick. A heck of a lot cheaper than replacing otherwise good carpet.
