I just realized that Carnegie is close by where we live now. We just moved here in Mountain House, Ca (near Tracy, Ca).

Has anyone seen this place? Is it just like the Hollister OHV park?

I'm assuming the addition will cater 4x4 vehicles?

Unless something changed as of late, they do have a 4x4 area. In fact, I think they just made some major improvements to it last year.

As far as I know, Carnegie has had a 4x4 area since at least January 2013 when @KWalkerM and I first met and went wheeling.

There's a group fighting it, so not likely to happen anytime soon.

They don't have much of a leg to stand on. It's all about what comes out in the EIR, due out "in early 2016".

So let's do it again, and invite me. How was it? Presumably not as big as Hollister?

@pilotuku, AFAIK, there are still no TRAILS at Carnegie for 4WD's. Now that you're within 2 hours from the Sierras, you have plenty of opportunities for fun. Grab a Stanislaus NF map and go for it!

Pardon my ignorance, but where can I download the Stanislaus map? I was searching and couldn't locate one. I may have to try harder.

All I need is someone to have fun with me! Lol.

With my wife taking care of our 10month old boy, and all my friends are in the Peninsula area and no one will go with me. Haha.

Kidding aside, I was doing some reading earlier today about Carnegie and seems that the 4WD area has opened up late last year (if the article was accurate).

I get off work early tomorrow and maybe I'll do a recon trip.

These will keep you busy for years :)

Btw i ride my dirt bike at carnegie and its a pretty good time. I'll take my boys out for a quick evening crawl in the 80 every other month or so to scratch the "I can't get out to the sierras" itch. But on measure i find it sorta boring in comparison...hate to be a downer.

All that said if you want to meet up at some point and hit carnegie, I'm down. I'm in livermore at least until our lease is up in march.

Who's game for meeting up this Saturday morning at opening (8:30a)?

I may be able to swing it on Saturday.

I'll find out by tomorrow.

@HAAANK, not sure if you're going tomorrow but I will be there around 930ish. I'll be in a white 80 with a buddy on his silver 100.

Although it was fun, there's really nothing really out there. Just that play area like the one at Hollister Hills.

The ranger did mention that on February there will be a meeting at Tracy, and the 3,000 acre proposal for 4x4 trail will have a hearing and they kind of said they need support to get it through.

Didn't really take pictures. There are some videos and I will upload them.

Here's the official notice about the meeting, as well as an invite to join the Off-highway Motor Vehicle Commission on their tour of the place. It might actually include the 'new' section that is otherwise off limits.

Anybody able to attend the meeting today?
