I have a 100 and am thinking of trading my FJ in for another 100 or a 200, mainly due to the fact that the FJ rear seat is impractical for my growing kids. How does the cargo space for the 200 compare to the 100? According to the specs I've read, with no 3rd row the 100 actually has 10 cubic feet MORE space than the 200 (81.7 for the 200 compared to 90.8 for the 100.) Does this measure up with what you guys who own one actually experience? The 200 seems bigger on the outside - hard to believe it has less room on the inside?

I feel like there is a lot more space in the 100. I am new to the 200 and am actually looking for a low 100 b/c I am not happy with the move.

Not that it really matters for the discussion, but the brochure of the 2020 LC has 82.8 cu.ft.

I think that in terms of usable space it depends on what you plan to put in the truck. All I can say is that nothing I ever put in the 100 wouldn't also fit in the 200 series. Example: I have a set of ARB drawers that I have moved between a 2000 LX and a 2017 LC.

I suspect that one would have to look at side-by-side stripped down versions of each to see why the exterior volume went up slightly, but interior storage space went down. I know my 200 series LC rides much quieter than my 100 series LX, maybe more steel and sound damping materials in the newer ride force the interior plastics out a bit more?

The 200 has more second row seat legroom and less cargo area than the 100.

The increased leg room is noticeable. The decreased cargo area, not so much.

The second row on a 200 reclines which may eat part of that space and the 200 third row seats seam thicker than 100 seats. Never measured them,

I have both a 100 and 200. For long trips that I’m bringing a lot of gear, I always use the 100. For one thing the 3rd row in the 100 can be removed in minutes without tools. Another thing is the interior walls are much less robust and sleeping in the back seems a lot more roomy. Nothing against the 200, if you made me choose one it would be the 200. But rear cargo, the 100 does win.

I could put my bike into my 100 series with the front wheel off even with the third row seats installed (folded up). With my 200, I had to remove the third row seats to do the same. The 100 series was definitely bigger. I also liked the ease of removal of the seats in the 100 series seats, but didn't care for the way they flopped around when folded up.

Reviving an old one here... how is the hip space in a 200, much different than 100?
We just got done with a 2k mile round trip through this last "polar vortex" with a toddler & dog and the wife made it abundantly clear she feels the 100 is too small but I'm not ready to move on from a Land Cruiser (ie a Sequoia)

Came here because I’m only now realizing I need more space. Looking at 200s for a family friendly standpoint as opposed to being staunch on having a front solid axle. Pretty sure I have not gone anywhere in my 80 a 100 or 200 couldn’t have gone.

With 3 little boys(8,5,2.5) and wife, I can say the 200 definitely lacks space. Family trips, vacations and whatnot require packing outside the vehicle. Rooftop box and trailer mount cargo carrier are usually in play. Even taking one side of the third row out doesn't leave much. Just my experience.

The 200, to me, is great for 2 people with an option for an occasional 2 more.

If I had children (mine are grown) it would be Sequoia or Sienna for the required room.

I’m looking to get an SUV for the wife and narrowing in on a Toyota or Lexus. I’m planning for 2 car seats plus a medium sized dog on trips, can anyone say they fit 2 car seats and a dog in the second row? Maybe I’ll need to have my dog in the back on top of drawers

Sounds like the 100 series would give more interior room than the TR4 or 200 series.
