I'm going to install some tie down rings in the back of my 60 and would like to use a nice heavy duty cargo net to secure my gear while wheelin.

Can anyone recommend a good quality cargo net that will fit the FJ60 (with rear seat up for normal use).

TIA.

Easy way to make a strong net:
1. Get a couple of racing window safety nets from Summit
2. some 1" webbing and some nylon quick release slide buckles (like those found on everyday backpacks) from your local fabric store
3. Sew them together or have a local auto upholstry shop sew them together

Here is the one I made for the 40 I had - adjustabe, strong, quick release to get at items

Thanks guys -- nice net system Osteo...

Been lookin' around and even though it wasn't what I was originally looking for (I was thinking something with more flexibility/elasticity), this looks like it might work:

or this stuff

I'll keep my eyes open for others too. Will need to wait until I actually install my anchors so I can get more exact measurements on the net size I need.

I looked at the US Netting cargo net when I did mine - nice but very expensive. window nets from Summit are about 20.00 each (24x24 or 18x24). If you can piece together a couple to fit your space it's alot cheaper than any pre-made net like US Netting. I think I paid the auto upholstry shop 10.00 to sew two nets together and add the female portion of the quick release buckeles to the corners. A couple of bucks worth of 1 inch webbing and it was done.

For holding gear in place when wheeling - I think non-elastic netting works best. Tighten the cinch straps at the anchor points and it's locked down - can't bounce it's way free.

Depending on what size you need, you might want to take a look at the vast arrray of OEM offerings available on different new vehicles. My wife's '04 4Runner came with a nice cargo net that happens to fit perfectly between the four cargo hooks on a 60 series. Needless to say, it was promptly appropriated for the Cruiser.

At my old job I had company cars and they always came with nets. I kept a pretty good set of them and they work great in combination with some zip ties to keep some of the loose stuff from bouncing around.

If what you want is to contain heavy tool boxes/parts boxes, then I agree that something with no stretch is best.

I love finding stuff like that that works - look at the picture above - a friend gave me the net that fit perfectly between the roll bar uprights - trunk net out of a Ford (taurus, I think)

Digging thru old threads.

Has anyone else found another company for web cargo barriers?
