I don't want to tackle this, leave it to the pros.

With that said any recommendations on who to send it to? In Miami there is a guy that runs Billy's carburetors, everyone loves him here but are there any other cruiser specific recomendations (mechanics for carbs) out there? By the way how does $170 sound and what should I expect to be done? That is with me removing and re-installing it.

Thanks all as usual

i bought a rebuilt carb from these guys>>>>http://carburetorexchange.com/<<<for 265.00.
the carb looked brand new and made a BIG difference in the way my landbruiser runs now. i even get 4 mpg more than before. quick starts on cold morns with only a few pumps and choke. super guys, with a fast turnaround. they even called me to let me know the first carb the planned to send had a hairline crack (discovered when they engine tested it) and delivery would be delayed a few days so the could rebuild another one.

VERY SATISFIED CUSTOMER....i know who im going to use if i ever need another one, which shouldnt happen since the core i sent them was the orginal factory carb with 230k miles.

do a search on the mud forums for Jim C or Jim Chenoweth or FJ40Jim. He does a great job, but it will cost you more than $170. After the rebuild, he tests it on an engine to make sure it's operating properly.

Thanks to you all, I knew there was someone I had read about in an older thread but I couldn't remeber who. I was going to try it out locally but I will have to talk to TLC or Jim first to see what they offer in terms of turnaround etc..

Thanks as always.
