I am attempting to rebuild my carb. I meant to have a FSM engine manual by my side, but they are on back order and could be up to four weeks. I can't wait that long, so I am going in blind. I am taking detailed notes, pictures, drawings.

Can anyone post or e-mail me (carson.bro@gmail.com) scanned images of the FSM manuals pages pertaining to carb rebuild?

Thanks

Wow. 2mbb, you are a life saver. Those came through really clear. I can't wait to get my FSM after getting a preview of the detail in there.

Now only if my impatience hadn't gotten the better of me. I started taking the carb apart before 2mb e-mailed the sacred pages. I was being pretty meticulous, and well, attempting to COMPLETELY disassemble it. I was trying to remove the throttle valve so that I could slide the throttle shaft out, but I sheered off one of the screws holding the throttle valve to the shaft, I then flipped the throttle valve over to see the tail of these screws had been waffle pressed down, so that they could never come loose and fall into the intake. Not sure what to do about this yet.

Also, stripped one of the screws holding the top half of the secondary diaphragm to the carb body...:whoops:

Anybody have a cheap parts carb?

Is that special tool referenced in the FMS a must?

me too :) it may help solve my problems

I too sheared off one of the same screws, I had a hard time finding one that would fit, none of the hardware/fastener stores had anything that small ( I think it is a 3.5) I lucked out and my uncle had a carb I was able to steal some from.

How did you get the broken screw out of the throttle shaft? I am thinking of just trying to get a new throttle shaft and screws from cruiserparts.net

Unless anyone on here has said parts available at reasonable price. Secondary throttle shaft and screws?

I was fortunate enough I only broke the head off so there was enough still sticking out to grab with some vice grips. I was also fortunate enough to have acess to some screws
