So I have spent the last 2 weeks trying to get my carb to send fuel....Rebuilt it and pulled it apart and cleaned it but it still dont give me fuel. I get fuel up the carb but it wont fill the bowl...the filter is brand new and the gas is clean. She fires right up if you pour gass down the carb but the carb just doesn't seem to want to distribute the gas for me. After you fire it up, pressure builds up in the fuel line to the point that when you take the fuel line off it literally sprays fuel every where...I really dont want to spend $500 on a new carb when i plan on doing a swap in the future..but i really want it running..

Oh btw it is a 74 with a F engine but the carb is a 75 model carb...think its the jets and anybody got a good way of adjusting the jets...I am new to foreign carbs but willing to learn....I was also wondering if there was a carb guide out on the internet..I have searched but not having much luck..

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...Thanks from a soon to be daily driving 55 bum.....

Thanks
Kevin

welcome, I'm in Helena. sending you a PM also

not sure on your carb, but on my 79, the needle valve that the float controls was stuck shut and would not let fuel into the bowl. or could there be any other blockage in there??? float set way off??

If there is no gas in the bowl, then the jets are not the problem, the needle is. Use compresses air to blow outthe area where the needle seats and if you haven't yet, put in a new needle and seat if possible.

ok so kept trying on sunday...pulled the jets out and did some experimenting. Fond that if i get fuel into the bowl the carb works fine so it is just the float needle...I have tried many different adjustments to the float and needle and the needle is brand new. It almost seems like the needle is to long but it is identicl to the one i pulled out and well the old oe didnt work either so Hmmmmmm. Any suggestions??? I am getting very proficent at pulling the carb apart and putting it back together but i still cant get it to run...Well I am headed out of town for work for the rest of the week so guess it will have to wait till the weekend...

Think if i pulled the spring out of the needle it would work...didn't try that but just came to my mind..

Thanks for the info.
Kevin

Dude,
This should not be so hard. It's a simple gizmo, if you have the right parts and put it together correctly, it will run.
You have a new needle valve? good. Is it the correct needle valve for your carb?
Get the stamped numbers off the airhorn to learn exact build date of your carb.
Also, do you have the fuel delivery line and the fuel return line hooked up correctly? Backwards doesn't work well. A '74 should have hard lines for both fuel delivery and return, but they don't match up well wth a '75 carb...do you have any cut hard lines with rubber hose replacements?
Don't even think about cutting springs off needle valves, needle valves work just in stock configuration for everybody else.
