My 1974 carburetor gasket has a tear in it right on the part from the accelerator pump plunger to outside. Will this cause a big issue? The gasket isn’t too old. Can I just put some gasket maker on it and seal it back up? Thanks!

A proper liquid gasket could last a long time. I wouldn’t suggest an rvt type.
Or you could cut one out from gasket material.

What liquid gasket do you recommend? I need to have it done in the next few days for a car show

This would work well until you get the correct rebuild kit.

You can check for a vacuum leak by spraying the area with a mist of water or carb cleaner while the engine is running. Then go from there!

By the way, how did you notice the tear in the first place and is the engine not running smoothly?
