I have a 77 FJ40 that had a Weber on it when I towed it home. This Aisin was in a box of parts that came with it. I rebuilt 10 years ago and have been running it ever since but it seems mice built a nest in it and now it needs another clean out. In looking through old threads on the topic I think I have a Aug 22 build date but I don’t see a year. Is 8 up above mean it’s a 1978?
Thanks for your help

In rebuilding the carb I discovered a bolt had fallen out of the throttle linkage. God only knows where and when. It’s unique in that it acts as a pivot point much like the accelerator pump bolt. Anyone know where to find a replacement?

Well the treads look good. Find a bolt that screws in. Then you will need a bushing to increase the diameter to the linkage size hole. If the bushing is thicker than the linkage by a little, then when the bolt is tight it will not pinch the linkage. I'm guessing it was a special shouldered bolt. I'm thinking a spent 308/3006 case deprimed and cut off at the web would work. Drill out the primer pocket to bolt size. Use a screw and nut to chuck it in a drill, then hold a file to it and mill down the outside diameter to fit the linkage hole. If you can leave a shoulder to help trap the linkage besides the bolt head or add a washer. Low strength Loctite the bold in at final assembly.

I went to my local NAPA to see if they could source something but no luck. So I stopped at the hardware store and bought an aluminum sleeve that’s the right outside diameter. After lunch I’ll see if I can’t fab something up. Thanks for the advice Charlie

That screw might have looked like this, I already sold my spare...

EDIT: that screw, it turns out, was too big in diameter. Check to see what size bolt fits that hole

Yep shouldered bolt. You can see the bushing in the linkage. Would also appear if this is the correct bolt then your bushing will need to be wider to step the linkage out from the carb. As a test, try the fitment and see if it wants to bind, yes then the thickness of your bushing needs to be wider.
