Anyone install a car starter on a FJ62? I wanted to install key less entry into the cruiser and thought I might as well install a car starter instead, with the key less entry. I can't justify spending a lot of money on this project (so no professional install, thinking around $100) and was wondering if I can install it myself. I have a FSM, fluke meter and any other tools I think I would need, Any insight on a project like this? I was looking at a Valet system, seems like people like the DEI brand around here. If you have power doors and an auto give it a shot. I looked at one for my 40, but I couldn't get the remote to hold it's tongue right to start it.

A guy at work warned me of this... (he used to install)

MAKE SURE, if you have a manual transmission... that you follow the proper procedure to program it, and follow the pain in the ass method to shut down (something like, push the button, put on the parking brake, put in neutral, turn key off (will keep running) get out, close the door, lock the doors and then it will shut off). Since it knows you are out of the vehicle, and it's still running -it knows it must be in neutral. He has seen someone push the start button and the car drove through the front window of a store. It won't stop cranking until the engine starts!!!!

i have done hundreds of remote starts and i must say the fj-62 is one of the easiest. give it a try!

I'll give it a whorl

I have an auto tranny so I won't have to worry about that.

Thanks for the input.
