Hi All
Not sure if there's a thread or anything on this but was wondering what people are using for canoe carriers. I was using the OEM 100-Series rack and a bit of rope but am thinking of upping my game with the new Gamiviti rack I recently installed. Thinking of this universal style (from Thule or Yakima) if there are no other/better ideas (homemade solutions welcome).
Regards
J

I've been using the older version of the KeelOver that you posted for damn near 10 years. It mounts to just about any rack that you can think of. I have no problem swapping the mounts between the multiple different racks on my various vehicles. Works well. Hell, it held my canoe without issue driving across the country from VA to AZ. I've wheeled with the canoe mounted in it too, and never had any shifting or problems (other than reduced overhead clearance!).

For a long time, I used pieces of pool noodle on Thule crossbars and climbing rope with a trucker’s hitch.
I plan on getting the Gamiviti rack as well, I’ll post up when I figure out how I’ll carry kayaks/canoes etc.

I carry a 17’ canoe on my Gamiviti regularly. The rearmost bar of the rack is far enough rearward to rest the canoe on it while the other end is still in the ground (canoe has wheels at the ground end). I had to remove the truck’s rear wind deflector of course. The front of the canoe ends up about even with the front of the truck, while the rear extends about a foot and a half behind the truck. When opening the upper tailgate be careful of the rear window, mine ends up so the canoe’s endcap contacts the rear wiper pivot; that’s ok, I just have to be really careful when opening the upper hatch. I just use two ratchet ties across the body of the canoe to the rack. Sorry I don’t have any pics.

Yeah I'll have to see how it works with my rack. The gunwhale brackets add a bit of height so hopefully won't have to remove the deflector. Thanks

Awesome news. Thanks.
