I tried the tercel alternator route and it had to be modded, and then it died. So I just ordered a direct bolt in unit from ebay. This is the cheapest I could find, comes from Britain. Mine's a 90 tho so needed the oval to round adapter.

(NEW OEM SPECIFICATION ALTERNATOR. This is smaller fit alternator for pre-1998 models. Most applications will have more than one option for an Alternator or Starter Motor. ii) That you have compared the old Part with the Photos provided to ensure they are identical.
