can you remember the last time you full-throttled your 80?

I never exceed 60 miles/hour on any higway, never mind full-throttle
[/quote]

what about if the highway is 70mph?

I have drivin all my Cruiser and every other car I have every owned at WOT.......never toasted a motor, never an internal problem on 20++++ cars/trucks.

I personaly think it's good to open em up and run WOT....blows the carbon and crap out.

Pimp,
Most of your's have the 2F right? LOL, that would mean max speed is like 47.5 if going downhill in the tuck position. :flipoff2: :D

Seriously now, I agree with Pimpsta. Got to open it up once in a while. NOthing worse than a car that only sees town speed for like 5 miles at a time.

From San Jose to Los Angeles, about 380 miles --took me 4hrs & 30 min or thereabouts of driving time. :flipoff2: Oh, it was on a stock UZJ-100 with barely 5,000mi on the odometer, with the only mod was a Valentine-1 radar detector. That was the time I discovered that the UZJ-100 was rev limited to about 110+ mph.

Sorry, but have you beat by a bit, Walnut Creek to Los Angeles in 1987, dad driving in a Mercedes 190, 3 hours 45 minutes. Myself, Walnut Creek to UCLA, HWY 101, 450 miles, 5 hours 15 minutes (Hwy 5 was closed), also did Eugene Oregon to Walnut Creek (535 miles) in 7 hours one time. Absolute best, 500 miles in 5 hours (Munich Germany, to Achun (sp)); have to love the Autobahn.

Long winded rant ... ;-)

It's become just a way of life with my non-regeared , non-sc'd 35"-booted FZJ aka The Tao of Ugh :P

Can't wait till I get the 4:88's . Then at least I'll gain 'some' sense of satisfaction when I do tromp the skinny .

What I tend to do now is floor it into some long winded , gradual acceleration . I have the tru-speed recalibrator , and I find if I wait till into 2nd gear to hammer it , I get much better results .

Tyler

PS : Months ago I got into a big argument with my manager over my speeding in an ambulance . I was clocked at 132 kmh in a 50 or 60 . ::) . Of course I was travelling code 4 , so his main argument was that I was being abusive to the rig . He stated that when he sees a huge spike of very short duration on a tach card , he considers that abuse ; or what he called "goosing the vehicle" . I damn near spewed my morning latte on his sorry ass ... "It's a dually diesel pig !!!! ... how the hell could it have been goosed ?? :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2: ". Same thing with the 80 , I just go for as fast an acceleration as I can , but it's usually pitiful .

PSS : Fawkin manager anyway . I should video tape the Goddamm traffic whizzin by me when I try and merge driving code 4 in one of his sh!t dually diesels !! :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

Last full throttle on the 100 was my driveway in Black Mountain: speed 5 MPH..
Last full throttle on the TT at TMS in Fort Worth: speed 154 mph (rev limited at 155 from the factory). :o

:D :D :D

Jonathan, you have never had your 1FZ-FE over 2900 rpm. Are you serious? Not to hassle you or anything. Just curious if you posted correctly.

GPS read 121 mph. I say OH SHEET and slow down. :whoops:

Not exactly a brilliant move, but hey, I'm on my 3rd engine. :flipoff2:

Sounds like you're hard on the equipment. It would be interesting to hear your personal experience regarding the strong points and weak points of the FZJ80 engine and drive train. Since it is unusual for anyone to have major problems with the FZJ80 engine, what do you think you are doing wrong?

The posted highway speed is 60 Miles/hour Max where I live, some other posted highway speeds is 65 miles/hour, I do not think that I have to floor the rig every once in a while to get it to perform to specs, it has been performing to specs as is, I take it on a long drives sometimes 300 miles round trip with 60 miles / hour speeds and I enjoy taking my time looking at the scenery on the highway. My family enjoys that as well, I just do not like speed period, and I believe the harder you work your engine the more problems you will face down the road, and trust me when I say that as I am coming from experience on this one.

My $0.02

Thanks
