Wondering if the Isuzu Pup LUV Complete diesel Motor can power a FJ40 with a turbo. I was thinking of converting using the stock FJ40 running gear.

Thanks

Aaron

Yes it'll power it. But not quickly and you will hate hills.
1st gear low range may not be enough to spin all your wheels either.

It's not much power for a landcruiser. Even the old trooper/bighorns with that engine struggled, they were lighter, skinnier tyres etc.

Isuzu 4JB1T is a better option.

It may depend on the terrain you wish to conquer.
It wont do sandhills, beach work or steep highway hills as well as your current engine.
I would look closely at the power specs and diff ratios in the Isuzu.
A lot of the small diesels come with lower ratio diffs than a 40 series so they can get up to their cruising speed.

On the other hand Landrover had a 2.2 turbo diesel in their Defender a few years back and everyone was happy.
