Hey fellas.

I need help here kinda quick.

IN short... I ordered my FJ 4 months ago. agreed on price, options color, etc. Said car was gonna be here Aug 1. So July comes around and I'm starting to sell my car. Just listed 2 days ago. Yesterday I get a call from the dealer - your FJ is here.
I said : I thought it was supposed to be Aug 1. They said: pick your car up by tomorrow or we will put it on the lot.

What should I do? I called TMS already.

Pick up the FJ now, sellers market, YOU must be flexible, they are not a storage service, Toyota is flakey about when they are coming in ... etc ... etc ... can't believe I am actually sticking up for a stealership.

Why not?

Shady maybe, but I don't see why they would sit on the vehicle for 15 days. Honestly, I'm not surprised at all.

They know that the next person off the street will probally buy it right away. Heck I am tired of waiting for mine!! maybe I will buy it, what color was it again?

Just kidding!

Tell them to beat it and go somewhere else. Don't be bullied into buying a car, especially if it puts you in a financial pinch.

Hell theres 2 of them sitting on the lot at my neighborhood dealer. Black and blue.

If you have any kind of paperwork like your deposit reciept the details sould be on there.

Mine says if I do not pick mine up when it comes in, they can sell it AND keep $500

Yeah, they can do that.

I initially ordered from 2 dealerships and put deposits on both back in March/April. Both got them in earlier than expected. They were willing to honor the deposit and hold them for a couple of days while I got my finances together.

I actually ended up buying out of state from a third dealer that I ordered over the phone with. They were willing to hold the vehicle close to a week so I could fly out there on the weekend to purchase.

Did you get your deposits back from the 2 dealerships you ordered from initially?

The local dealers here always have them in stock. I have never driven by without seeing at least one on the lot. But the question is, is it the one you want. Probably not...

Oh, and by the way...when I bought mine, someone had a $1000 deposit on it and hadn't been to get it in 3 days. So they sold it to me! It was the first one they got in. So, yes they can do that.

they shouldn't be that nasty about it

is this a small dealership that you are dealing with? maybe they had to floorplan it to bring it in and are afraid to accumulate any interest on it-- did they give you a really tight deal ?

Not hear. Your looking at a 4 month wait time unless your willing to fork out 30K for one on the spot... even then you could be looking at a few weeks or months...

all of the dealers here are flooded with them but they also slap on an addendum sticker

If you're worried about having a safe place to keep it then bring it by. I'll look after it for ya.:grinpimp:

They gave me a hard time about buying the car right away and that there was a list of people waiting in line, but they held the vehicle for a couple of days. I ended up not buying from either of those dealers due to some California tax issues, and both deposits were refunded in full.

I went out of state to vegas to buy.

Just wait another year or two;)
