Carfax is ok but don't put all your stock (belief) in it,
(IMO the very people that believe that carfax is the end all be all way of verification are the ones that let it get them in trouble, learn for yourself how to spot signs of damage)
Speaking of Cars...CARFAX Is A Joke In Tennessee

I put about 10% into it (carfax), the rest is in my eye's, I have an eye for detail and Toyota messes very few to nothing up.
Go to chat search for carfax, some guys have accounts and for free will look up your VIN.
