Can someone explain how this audio setup is done? (1 Viewer)

My wife has an 05 Land Cruiser, and I'm seriously debating on getting rid of my 3rd gen 4runner for a LC. However, unlike my wife, I must have good audio. I also don't want the 4 speed transmission. Drove a 2000 this week and wasn't a fan. I like the updated stuff. So I'm looking online and I found an 03 with the setup shown below. I never knew there was a way to bypass the DVD system completely...which is what it looks like the person did. Can this be done on an 05? If so, how? Is it just unplugging one wiring harness and plugging it in to the aftermarket radio?

The stereo in the Cruiser is good once you change out the speakers.
You can plug and play and add bluetooth.

Ehhh....not really. I've got a good setup in my 4Runner. Powerful 5 channel amp with very good speakers. Infinity Kappa.
I don't think it looks bad, but I'm for of a function person .

To do it right you have to delete the nav system and convert it to a non-nav 100 Series.

Then you can install any double din aftermarket stereo.

You can put in any system you want and be liberated. Sell your old parts and pay for the new ones.

I did that in the picture also, with a pioneer flip up screen in the begining, it works well. It's cheaper than deleting the nav, but there is also less room lower in the cavity like that.

the angle is a pain in the ass. A remote control for the deck is a must, and it's easier with a shallow mount kenwood.

to answer your question, they put a resistor in the TX pink and blue wires in one of the R plugs, then went about their business. Then remove all the under seat stuff if you want and install an amp, or bypass the amp and pick up the speaker outs after the amp. Don't run it through the amp using the speaker outs from the deck. You'll hate it. The amp was made for a lower than normal input and processes the crude out of the signal. (imho- unproven)

I stumbled upon this last night.
Runs Window's, not Android or IOS and says that it works with our trucks, plug in and go keeping all of the factory HVAC, steering wheel, SAT/NAV and add's bluetooth.
Someone needs to try this for the team.
I'm not in ther market for a new stereo.

So you think the wire harness that comes with it won't allow it to work because there is only one multi plug on the back of the stereo?

no i think that the seller says in his add for buyers to measure their dash. That's the first give away.
Second would be the three plugs adapters. Those may of may not work.
Third, it's for non nav vehicles in the sellers list.
Fouth, if you managed to cut a hole and install that in a nav car you're hvac wouldn't work, and it would look like ASS, as you say.
IF you could get a look at the bitter ends of the connectors, those probably won't be correct either.

the deck in your link is a regular double din deck specifically sized for toyota's standard DD hole. Much like the Non USA model of kenwoods that fit a 203 mm wide double din hole.

I bought a 2001 with busted JBL speakers. I used to have a 1997 FZJ80 and had completely gutted my head unit and speakers - installed a CDT amp + speakers. When I got my 2001 UZJ100, I decided not to go that route again. I decided to rebuild the JBL speakers with a speaker rebuild kit from SimplySpeakers.com (no affiliation). I rebuilt the cones in front two speakers and the rear woofer. I think the total kit for all that cost $30 and they sound every bit as good as the CDT audio's did. Really wasn't that difficult either.
