I am not a fan of politics, it is actually the reason why I stay out of any kind of clubs because it always boils down to politics and BS.
At the last meeting there was an issue raised (again ) of a non-Toyota owner being added as a member. So here it is: (from the horse's mouth)
How to Start a TLCA Chapter
"For consideration as a member in a TLCA Chapter, the minimum requirement is five owners of a Toyota 4-wheel drive vehicle. This is not to say that if a few of your close friends that have other 4WD vehicles cannot participate in your Chapter, but, to be considered for Chapter membership in TLCA, control of the club must be maintained by the Toyota 4WD members only, now and at all future times. "

and...
Bylaws
"
  1. Bylaws must include clauses that establish the following:
  2. A goal or objective of the Chapter is to "Support the TLCA."
  3. All Chapter members eligible to join TLCA must join and remain current members in TLCA.
  4. Chapter rosters may not exceed 30 percent non-TLCA members and non-TLCA members may not be used in constituting a quorum."
and even though it states that: "Membership is open to families that own Toyota Motor Corporation manufactured four wheel drive vehicles and sponsors (businesses). " this means only to be a TLCA member, not a chapter member. Since we are allowed to have up to 30% non-TLCA members in the club and a member with a vehicle other then a Toyota is not allowed to be in the TLCA = we are allowed to have up to 30% non Toyota owners/TLCA members.
Am I the only one who reads this? So take their money, give 'em a sticker and let's move on. :bang:

why are people bringing this up again? These are good people and an asset to the club. case closed

I'm with you Mat

And I want a sticker
GG

Good to see I'm not the only one with this point of view, do I need to start mentioning names as to who seems to have a problem with it? or can we be adult enough and move on?

Lets take craig for example............... he has a jeep and will always have a jeep. deal with it. He comes to more meetings and more club runs and events than MOST of the members.........................

what doest that say?

Rather than debate it (again). Let's add this to the agenda for the next meeting, get it inshrined in the minutes and close the can of worms once and for all.

I would like to move that " the Coastal Cruisers Club being a TLCA Chapter in good standng will welcome folks who do not own Toyota 4WD vehicles to be full members of the club provided that when invited, the total number of non-Toyota 4WD vehicle owner/members does not exceed 30% of the club membership"

Those with better wordsmithing are welcome to critique the motion.

I vote for one big brawl, that should settle it, cause after you guys pull your bruised assess off the ground you can go have a beer and a good laugh about it:hillbilly:

I was going to comment on this, but then the more I wrote, the more I thought I don't have a say because I am not a member anymore and I don't really know whats been going on since I moved north, but I will just say that the CC have had a long history of Cruisers only, and it will take time for some guys to change.

But I will also give props to Craig. Someone who can stick around so long and keep taking the Jeep trash talk, is Ok in my books. Cheers buddy, I look forward to having a beer with you at the campfire again in the future.

Cheers,
Deny

Not so fast guys, I have the by-laws here re TLCA membership for our club chapter and I do not agree with some of your fast and loose interpretations. How many of you have actually read the by-laws yourself? However, I am willing to study them again for the sake of club harmony. Also, I am not the only one here who regards this club as a Land Cruiser Club. Furthermore, I don't consider myself "political", but I do take issue with those that refuse to even read the by-laws before assuming a steadfast position. Also, I have nothing personal against those who drive Jeeps and Nissans, and they know that. Parhaps we should consider opening up the club to Subaru Outbacks, Nivias, Honda CRVs, Delicas, etc. because they are all nice guys, drink beer, and drive 4 WD vehicles too. s***, while we're at it, Ford 150s, Dodge Rams, and Chev Apaches would qualify and we could invite the Good O'l Boys with their shotguns from Princeton into the club at the same time. The sky is the limit, think of all the membership fees we could collect as well!
Finally, if you want one big brawl to settle this, I am willing to tie one arm behind my back so as not to have an unfair advantage!:D

Thanks guys. :)

I know some hardliners would like to see Cruisers only, but here's my view;

- The club was started by a couple of people, one drove a Bronco.
- When I talked (in person) to the TLCA, I was informed that clubs could have 30% non-Toyota.

But, to me, the biggest reason is to keep friends together. It seems really stupid to ask a person with a Landcruiser to join the club, only to tell is best friend to go join a, lets say, Ford club. Is it that the people in favor of Cruiser only have no friends outside the club? I agree that the club should have a majority of Cruisers. 95% of the people I wheel with have one. Sometimes you need a heavy-ass Ford to ankor to. ;)

What's next?
- New FJ's arn't really a Cruiser? :hmm:
- Cruisers with Chevy v8's need to be banned?

I'm not advocating that we accept everyone, but we should consider membership on a case by case senario.

Thanks guys. :)

No! No! No! Read the by-laws:

Article 3 – 1 Membership is open to families that own Toyota Motor Corporation manufactured four wheel drive vehicles and sponsors (businesses).

Article 4 – 3 Chapter rosters may not exceed 30 percent non-TLCA members and non-TLCA members may not be used in constituting a quorum.

So there it is in black and white: you own a Toyota 4WD and 70% of you must belong to TLCA.
Also, I might add that many CC members have not sent in their membership renewal to the TLCA and Article 4 – 2 says “All Chapter members eligible to join TLCA must join and remain current members in TLCA.” Soooo, if you want to open up the proverbial can of worms, let’s take stock of how many of you are not up-to-date TLCA members while we are at it.

I suggest, for reasons of privacy, we move this discussion to the Member's Forum. I am posting a new thread there called "Membership Can o' Worms"

I thought about starting this in the member only section but some of those that want access into the club (and drive something else) are not in there and their voice should be heard as well.
I see you are not reading the part of the rules that states (see post #1):
"This is not to say that if a few of your close friends that have other 4WD vehicles cannot participate in your Chapter, but, to be considered for Chapter membership in TLCA, control of the club must be maintained by the Toyota 4WD members only, now and at all future times."
and I find this funny:
"Membership is open to families that own Toyota Motor Corporation manufactured four wheel drive vehicles" since when has Toyota manufactured a Chevy V8 engine - my Haynes and FSM must be lying to me.
As for inviting everyone - let's be realistic, sure we can exaggerate and look at it from the point of view of inviting everyone over, but realistically we are inviting over friends of Land Cruiser owners who many of which want to own Cruisers in the future anyways.
Something tells me this might prove to be applicable: "I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member"
Also if you look at post #1 there are the links to TLCA rules, which I have read completely.

Well the f engine is a direct rip off of the chevy 6, and if you're gonna have a chevy 6, you might as well bonk yourself on the head and say "I could of had a V8".

So...whatever.

It's in the rules, as long as we don't exceed 30%. Keep track if you want, but get over it. And pay your TLCA dues!

exactly, I'm not bashing the guys that are running more horse power (well not much and definitely not for that reason), it's your choice and your preference. I just find it hypocritical that some people are OK with putting a non-Toyota engine in their Land Cruiser but have issues accepting a non-Toyota driver into our club, and it should be looked at on a case by case basis. How many guys are running Detroit lockers? (myself included), how many are using aftermarket parts? how many guys have a 40 grill on a tube 4X4 with nothing else Toyota and are part of the TLCA? come on! the list is huge. Where do you draw the line and at what point does it become total BS. Yes we are a Toyota club (because it's not really a Land Cruiser club since we are allowed by the TLCA to have any Toyota 4X4 as a majority), but we are also allowed to have our friends and family in it even though they drive something else, up to a percentage. Which is fine by me. I don't care if you have a Jeep, Ford, Dodge, Nissan, it you are a good person to wheel with, one of our friends, and can keep up with us on our runs or do better then I am more then happy to have you here. If this becomes more of an issue of politics then it does of people and who they are then I don't want any part of it. I'd rather wheel with guys that drive something else but are good people then to wheel with guys that have the same truck but are pricks. NOT THAT I AM SAYING YOU GUYS ARE PRICKS - SO DON'T START JUMPING THE GUN.

Seems to be a posting issue in the private forum, I'll ask Woody to get on it.
GG

 keep it up ! i am on my days off and have cold ones in the fridge.

If i put the toyota tool kit from my last 60 in my ford can I join ?

Sure, but I think you need to change your handle to "fordnut" then we'll do a run through "can opener". I'd love to see a full size on that trail :steer: :hillbilly:
GG

This is still registerd to me does it have to run ?
