Can I Use a Remote Fob Meant for a 2002 on a 2004? (2 Viewers)

I have looked through the thread started by Mauser and it’s a lot of pages and I’m not finding the answer by searching. Someone gave me an oem remote key that was meant for a 2002. I bought a 2004 100 series the other day and it only came with a generic non remote key. I would like to use the remote on the key from the 2002 on the 2004 and was wondering if it would work.

Check the FCC IDs. If they are the same it will work. The key you have posted the picture of is an HYQ1512V, at some point they switched to HYQ12BBT (I am not sure exactly when), they are not interoperable.

Edit: I see you don't have an original remote. Just try to program and if it doesn't work then you'll have your answer.

Edit2: Did some looking in parts catalog. It appears they didn't change it until 2005 so you should be good.
