My ball mount looks like this and currently the ball points up. Can I flip it over to raise the tongue height a couple of inches? I'm pulling a utility trailer and motorcycle (occassionally).

Thanks

Thanks. Does anyone know if the hitch is structurally stronger one way or the other. My concern is the weld failing if I turn it.

It will work.

I have done that many times, works just fine.

That 5/8 pin will shear long before that hitch will fail. They are designed to run both ways, up or down.

well, clearly the stress distribution will be different for both sides up. But I would not pretend to know which is stronger.

I run mine either way depending on need. Frankly, I never worried about it. Probably strong enough to meet the ratings either way.

I know some will actually state the max load up and down , I have seen some that were the same and I have also seen some that the flipped up ( rise ) was less.

ken

I flipped mine when changed from the Sienna to the Rav4 and it was a 6" rise on the van - works great.
