Any Mud-Vets out there? My dog has what appears to be a case of poison ivy on her underside. We have a lot of it on our property and surrounding properties.

Dog is a 65lb3 year old terrier/pit mix. Very healthy. I have had bad bouts with this stuff and I know how annoying it gets and Benedryl does give relief.

Any help appreciated.

Jim

Yes. Used to give it to our Weimaraner all the time. I'm sure google could provide dosing.

Thanks. That's what wife just saw on the net, too.
Gave her 2 25 mg caps on a small piece of bread with peanut butter.

I keep the grape flavored kids benedryl syrup on hand because my dog can eat all the peanut butter/bread in the world and still manage to identify and spit the pill.

so how do you know your dog needs the med?....serious question

the last time i gave my dog benedryl half her head was swole up like a balloon... so i assumed she got bit by something. A dose of benedryl and a good night sleep and she was fine in the morning.

The dog is much better today. Most a lot of the rash has gone away. She gets poison ivy now and then when she chases an animal into the woods.
