I've got a 1980 FJ and need to go through the carb. Here's a pic of the carb that I'm trying to identify. ANyone recognize the model?

TIA,
Mike

It looks like a Rochester 2GC or 2GV 2-Jet to me. Does it have a manual choke, or a divorced thermostated choke? There should be a serial number on it somewhere you can use to track down the right rebuild kit. Check on the side, on or around the float bowl. If there's a serial number on the side - it's a post 1968 model (68-72ish). If there's no serial number on the side - i believe there's a metal tag hanging off the top somewhere with the serial number - but I don't think it's the number in your picture. If there's a SN tag - it's a pre-68

Make sure when you buy a kit you get one with ethanol compatible parts.

Couple more dirty pictures for the thread...didn't get any pics from the back and the jeep in in CO and i'm in TX...dangit!

No idea - guessing a pre-68 2GC but I really don't know a ton about 2-jets. I don't think the data tag with 12835 is the serial number, there should be a longer number either on a triangular tag hanging off the carb or stamped into the side of the fuel bowl somewhere. I don't see anything on the fuel bowl, but I don't see a serial number tag either...

Here is a decent reference

Oddly enough I just ordered a kit for a similar carb last week. Go to Rockauto and look up the carb under a 1956 GMC with the 316 V8. It was $16.00 and some change plus shipping. Don’t forget to use the Rockauto discount code for Mud members list in the General section.
