Wanting to replace the rubber bushings in my rear upper control arms for my 100 series, but Toyota no longer sales them for 100 series to my knowledge. Prefer rubber over poly.

I can by 80 series OEM rubber bushings and pick up some used 80 Rear Upper Control arms in good condition for a fair price. The 80 series takes an 18mm bolt and 100 series takes a 14mm bolt, so I can bore out the hole a bit to accommodate the larger bolt.

I know the rear lower control arms are the same for 80 and 100, however not sure about rear uppers. Can anyone confirm? Thanks

I believe @cruiseroutfit carries the correct OEM bushing for the rear UCA's. No drilling required... just a press.

Thanks Hoser. Found them on their site.

I am also thinking about the kit Slee sells that coverts your fixed upper UCA’s to adjustable. However it is only available for the 80 series. Can’t seem to find anyone that can confirm 80 Upper Rear Control arms will fit 100 series.

Thanks again for your help

If you're looking for adjustable rear UCAs that are 100 specific, why not consider MetalTech 4x4 or Trail Tailor? Both of them offer adjustable 100 series upper AND lower rear control arms that are highly regarded.

Thanks Geanes. Might actually go that route. I really prefer rubber bushings in the rear lower arms. If I run rubber bushes in the lower arms, then the uppers with poly and J Joints might not be that noticeable. Just ordered the big beefy Landtank extended Rear lower arms with OEM bushes from Joey at Wits End. Going to put those on first and even see if I need an adjustable rear upper. If that is the case I will just get some new rear upper bushes from Cruiser Outfitters.

Correct, we stock OEM Toyota and high quality rubber aftermarket options.

Thanks Kurt. Do you know if 80 Rear Upper CA’s will fit a 100 series? The reason I ask is I would like to buy from you 80 arms and put in 100 series rubber bushes. Then take the Slee adjustable arm kit to install on these arms (Slee only sells thes adjustable arm kits for the 80 series).

Really want an adjustable arm for my 100 with rubber bushes. Only thing I can find is adjustables with poly and/or J Joints.

Any solutions or ideas for me here? Many thanks

The 80 Series Rear UCA bushings (SUSB60031AFT or SUSB60031OEM) uses a larger bolt (18mm ID)
The 100 Series Rear UCA bushings (SUSB60090AFT or SUSB60090OEM) use a smaller bolt (14.5mm ID)

As for the actual OD/Width of the bushing, they can be interchanged. Hope that answers your question.

Thanks so much Kurt. So if I had an extra set of OEM 80 rear upper control arms, I could install 100 series bushes on these arms and mount them on my 99 100 series. Correct?

Adjustable arms (such as our OMEUTA3036) will interchange on the 80 & 100 as they come with two different bushing sleeve. Before that we used 80 adjustable UCA's on the 100 and simply opened the holes up on the frame and ran the 80's bigger hardware. That said I've never tried to do what you're after, there is a line bracket that is a tad different? and the length might not be 100% the same? Again I've never measured.

@NHouston I gotta ask why you want adjustable Rear UCA's? Are you chasing down vibrations? Most 100's with the standard 2-3" don't usually require it.

I ask because I can remember at least 3 folks with adjustable rear UCA's that have failed over the long run. The stop nut gets loose and then over time the threads just get worn down from vibration and give away. Certainly, if you are on top of your maintenance or if you find your ideal adjustment and then tack weld the nut, you should be fine.

Hi Hoser-Just ordered the extended Landtank rear lower CA’s with OEM bushings from Joey at Wits End. I will have to get them on first, but there could be a small chance my rear uppers could use a little adjustment. My rear uppers need new bushes so I plan to swap them out when I install new lower arms. My thought was put new rubber 100 bushes in some used rear upper 80 arms on my 100 Series. Then if they need adjustment, buy the Slee adjustable upper arm kit for 80 series (they don’t make one for 100).

Like you said, chances are my 100 Rear uppers will be fine. I am hoping that is the case and I just have to update bushings.

Was just curious about 80 and 100 Rear upper arms interchangeability as an option.

Only difference on the LCA is the bushing and bolt. 80 uses an 18mm bolt where 100s use 14mm. I sourced OEM bushings so everything stays stock without needing to drill out.

The uppers *might* be the same bar but the bushings are also different. The UCAs I’d have to get a set of to confirm if 80s can be swapped in.

Just swapped in 100 series UCAs onto my 80. Can confirm bushings swap over just fine. However, the 100 arms are right around a 1/4" longer than the 80 UCAs. With a 2.5"-3" lift, I'm thinking this shouldn't create any driveline issues. Will see.
