Help. I'm looking for inspiration before I powder coat my wheels.

I'm leaning towards black, grey, pewter, silver colors or even other colors.

If anybody can help it would be greatly appreciated

black metallic orig. steel wheel look awsome!
dont have any pics yet to share ...just put em on

Go to Green Country cruisers.com.Mines at the bottom of the members page.Click on the pic for a couple other shots. That was a long time ago and the wheels are now on the tow trailer. The rig has improved a lot since then. Those wheels still look perfect.

Here's one of mine. You might want to search around in 40 tech. I know there's been a couple of threads with pictures.

GetsUThere,

Thanks for the post. That is a very clean looking wheel. What color is your rig?

My 80 is blue and I think both white and black will go with it, but too be honest I like white... except for brake dust issues. I'm curious, do you have problems with breakdust staining?

Skillet,

Thanks for the post. Your rig is nice and the wheels look supurb. If you don't mind me asking, how much did that powder coat job set you back?

I'm considering doing something with my wheels, but I'm going to think long and hard before I do. I just have to make sure it I've explored all the possibilities.

I paid too much. The only place around here cost me $80 per wheel.

If I had to do it all over, I would rattle can them.

I have since sratched the s*** out of all but the spare.

Sand blast them and use Trim Black by SEM. Good stuff and much cheaper than powder coat.

They did a good job though, wheels looked good out of the shop.

Is there a powder coat # that matches the stock grey 40 wheels?

It's your standard dune beige 40. It doesn't really get driven enough to have brake dust issues. The lighter color could probably show it worse than a darker one, but that it'll stain on anything if you don't keep it cleaned up. Personally on an 80 I really like black like Skillet's wheels.

Do they make other colors than black? I would like to do OEM Grey.

JTO sells rattle cans of "Land Cruiser grey" paint that is a match for the grey wheels. I am doing mine this weekend and will post a pic or two when done.

Here are my wheels with rattle can Rustoleum dark machine grey.
I had them powder coated but the job was so bad I had them sand blast it all off and I painted them.
Where the seem is on the rim there were large bubbles that looked real bad. I called several places in Los Angeles and they all would not stand behind their work so I went with the rattle can.
