Just get one of these. It makes the small ones legal 😂😂

Good riddance. Newsom has done us a favor. Those silly 1 lb bottle are expensive. Just get a real propane tank (5 lb to 20lb) and get an adapter.

Those disposable 1 lb cylinder are a giant scam. The propane in a 1lb propane tank is about 4x the cost of the propane in a 20lb tank. Not even considering that the 1 lb disposable are not recyclable.

Those looking for the convenience and portability of the small bottle can buy the Flame King refillable 1lb cylinder. They are very well made and pay for themselves in about 3 uses. I have two and they're awesome.

I don't ever have need for the 1Lb. Even if I tent camp and use a Little Buddy, I use a 20lb and correct adapter/hose.
I do have about a dozen refilled disposable bottles though, that I keep around.

I could get one of these
🤣
this is the perfect wasp / hornet nest eradicator

Apparently the ban stems from lack of facilities to dispose of the single use containers. Yosemite had to purchase it's own machine to shred the tanks and do a hefty amount everyday. Reusable tanks aren't terribly expensive and will pay for themselves fairly quickly.

inquiring minds want to know....how do you haul the 20#er?
Be sure to label it clearly and inconspicuously “highly flammable”, tag it with a red or orange rag, and bungee cord it to the back bumper! 🤣🤣🤣
And also accessorize it with a bumper sticker “if you can read this, you are following too closely 💥💣💣💣💥

I've been refilling the disposable 1lb bottles for years. They usually are ok for 2-3 refills before the valve gives up and won't completely close. Refillable ones like Dat posted are on the horizon tho!

"F" Gruesom Newsom!

did not know the "2-3 use" knowledge. I check the valves w. soapy water after each refill.

Guess I have to pay closer attention. getting the refillables would be pricey for me as I usually haul 6 1#ers for any given trip (note: Mr.buddy heater user).
I've had no issues (leaks) with refilling these half a dozen times or more. It all comes down to carefully monitoring when you refill. And having a small digital scale available to check gross weight after refill. about 29oz is ideal when refill.

I'm reconsidering my switch in the 90s from gasoline to the current propane stove set up. I'm carrying gasoline anyway and cooking with a gasoline stove eliminates the need to carry another fuel. There is a risk for a gasoline fire but it is an added fun factor!❤️‍🔥🔥🧨 all depends on point of view, right?! ;)

I have the small refillable Flame Kings, too, along with the fill kit. It all works great! I just refill from my BBQ tank.
