CAMP CRUISERHEAD is the official camp name. Camp Rock is a fairly large and open area but we need to get folks in there early to rope an area off and stake our turf.

Can Temecula Tim and Calstyl2 rally the cruiserheads through the various forums?

Oh yeah, Rob... Can you bring my favorite 55 gal container for a "little midnight" canyon glow? Good times, eh?

I"m planing on going up Thursday with some rope to get a good spot at camp rock :D and make share the road is OK. I may have a 55 gal drum for the fire.

I may need a second truck or trailer my ol pig will be loaded down

We received this today from the BLM Barstow Field Office.

"Unfortunately the permit for the Calico Poker Run has been denied. The BLM resource staff said that the poker run course is in a limited use area and runs through critical tortoise habitat. In order to permit this type of use they are going to require a complete environmental assessment rather than a categorical exclusion (CX). The CX means that there is no affect. They cannot sign off and say there is no affect without further consultation with the US Dept. of Fish and Wildlife Services. This is a lengthy process that takes a minimum of six months."

The clean up will go on as scheduled. The poker run on Sunday has been canceled as of todays' date. The Calico Clean Up committee wants to encourage a trail run after the raffle on Saturday afternoon or perhaps on Sunday for those wishing to explore the beautiful Calico Mountains.

This is a minor set back but our goal is to remain focused on the clean up and work closely with BLM to maintain and keep the Calico area open for access to all recreationalists. We appreciate your volunteer efforts and sincere cooperation to make this a successful event.

Should you have any questions, concerns, or comments, please direct them to the calico clean up committee at Calico Cleanup 2008 Home

Bummer,

Question- did the primary event require the environmental assessment or does it fall into the CX category?

Bummer Mark but we shalt overcome

The CX/EA issue only impacts organized events.

If a bunch of individuals wanted to go wheel the areas without being "organized" it is not an issue.

No I am not condoning this, I am just sayin..

Shhhhhhhhh ;)

This is exactly what I'm encouraging folks to do. We'll play by the rules as an "un-organized" group of wheelers...

I got a "hotelle-motelle-holiday inn" in Bar Stow that's gonna be my epicenter now that I have a girlfrend. I will see you guys out there during the day. In case you dont recognize I will be the sober guy in a sailing hat in a white jeep playing russian folk music, looking for purses and propane cans in mineshafts. The 80 is undergoing surgery and wont be ready. But I will see Calico Kid's laser beam show again! I cannot wait and the cannons are so cool in Calico!
