Hello! I have made significant progress resolving various issues with my 2001 LX470. One of the last annoyances is a droning sound that forms in the cabin specifically at 50mph and 80mph. It is at those speeds—not before, after, or between.

  1. Front and rear driveshafts are new and greased.
  2. Front left and passenger rear wheel bearings have been replaced.
  3. Transfer and diff fluids are new.
Thank you for your time and expertise!

How about a roof rack or sunroof issue - missing trim covers, etc. At that speed, wind noises can drown out drive train noises. Just want to be sure you're looking everywhere, and not just at the drive line. Maybe you can buy/borrow some chassis ears, as well, and experiment with those. How about the muffler - hole in the top you can't see (as some LX/LC mufflers fail)?

I had a drone like that-more of a vibration. Turned out it was a bad transmission.
I hope that isnt youre case. I would check trans mounts and diff mounts.

Thank you. Roof rack is stock and no issues, missing parts. Sunroof is in good working order. Muffler is in great shape. Always a Texas vehicle, not a spec of rust. Chassis ears is a good suggestion. Maybe another wheel bearing I haven't replaced. Thank you!

Ready to pop open a can of worms? Haha.

Not sure if you get the 'my ears hurt from this drone', but check out that thread. Lots of good info.
