On the 07+ Tundra there were (or used to be) 2 options for cabin air filters. One looked at lot more substantial than the other. On the LC there is only one choice and it looks like the thin one from the Tundra's two. So I guess were stuck with using this one as opposed to having much in the way of choices...so any reason to think it is not going to be up to the job? Or any other thoughts on it? Anyone even care?

To be honest...who cares...that being said though, it is an item that is replaced every oil change. If you follow the schedule it will totally be up to the job. No different than any other type of filter you would find out there. Some are better than others, but every one needs to be changed when they get dirty.

They are replaced every oil change? I don't believe mine are set to be changed that often. I'll check my "scheduled maintenance" guide in a bit.

Actually, the dirtier the filter gets the better it filters. Right up until it won't even let the air though. Same can be said for most filters including fuel filters but beware of oil filters which will always have bi-pass valves to prevent the actual blockage of oil and the dire consequences of that happening. Actually oil filters will tend to bi-pass during normal cold starts but this can be minimised by using the correct oil viscosity for your climate. Given a choice I would choose a 0w/40 oil for best possible protection in both cold and hot conditions.
