The atlas 5 cylinder was one of the motors I considered when looking for an engine swap candidate.

the guy who did mine put a i5 in an FJ80, bone stock, with good results before mine. i think the i5 would be awesome in a 40, or even a 60. my rig decked out is just too heavy.

Cool swap. What transmission and tcase did you use or did you stick with the Toyota stuff? Looks like Advance Adapters has a possible solution.

they used a 4l65e and the adapters are a flavor of marks, certainly the spud adapter... don't honestly know yet as it sits. he was doing his own adapter to the 4l60 they started with, then they changed midstream to the 65 and it changed EVERYTHING. it was going to be stock tcase in stock position with stock DS. now the tcase is shifted and both DS are new.

OK---I'm in for sure I will see you TONIGHT at Elephant Butte for camping and a few cold beers---
Then we're off like a heard of turtles to Apache Gap/Timber Mountain/Palomas Gap---I am STOKED!!!:bounce::bounce2:

We're ready to head out with Terrill in a couple of hours.

Good times were had this past weekend while camping at Elephant Butte and running the trails. This trail is very challenging and very long. Camping at the lake was fantastic due to no winds and sunny days. We camped at the Rattlesnake beach and wouldn't you know it, a young German Shepherd puppy did get bit (in the web of the front paw) by a rattler Friday afternoon. She was taken to the vet at Las Cruces and will be alright.

Terrill's son Zack's camper. Strange, the air mattress deflated down at night time :D

Chris and Lisa's very nice teardrop trailer (Taco owner)

All the creature comfort of home.

The ladies after a night of partying

John, after a night of burban "neat".....he looked a lot better than he felt apparently!! Bourbon made Terrill do funny things at night with his 40.....since we have no pics, it never happened.....

Air down spot near the Caballo lake dam

Terrill our trailboss of the day.

Phil the tail gunner. I'm always impressed with Phil's ability to maneuver that wide beast through tight spaces. Just when I think I'm working that steering wheel a whole bunch, I can only image what Phil must be going through!!!

John's front caliper started to weep brake fluid. These are the ones that he grabbed from that burned up LX450 in the PnP yard last week. I've never seen this happen before but the fluid was leaking out of the two halves of the caliper. Easy fix - tighten the four clamping bolts on both calipers.

Unfortunately, John was nursing a Bourbon hangover so he was moving rather slowly, almost backwards in time......

i haven't felt sun that hot or gravity that strong in a long time... thanks everyone for the help there. that was not fun in that mental or physical state.

and thanks to Terrill for leading, and thanks for only bringing one bottle.

The only way to solve this issue is to bring more bottle next time....practice, practice, practice!!

Man we had a blast :steer:.....looking forward to going again with you all. Thanks for leading us JSTNCSE.......next time we'll check out those mine shafts too;)
