Considering a project based off an option I have to purchase a cheap HJ75 with extended chassis with 6x6.
The 75 troopy cab was extended to a custom bus body, but both the cab and camper body are completely cactus... not much that isnt rust. However the chassis itself looks to be really solid and the 6x6 system works well. Engine and transmission likely to be a swap also as the v8 diesel in it sounds on its last legs.
Had thought it might be a good project to strip everything off the chassis and prep it for a cab swap and a tray back + slide on.
Am keen to have 5 or 6 seats for family camping, but not familiar with body mounts and other issues for cab compatibility, just wondering if any of the cab option are just too much difficulty/ dollars with any changes over the years. Legroom advantages in any models (or ease of modifying for more room) is also a consideration as I am 6'6".
Dual cab 75? Dual cab 79? Any 79 year issues to think about... 2007 or 2016 changes? Or even some kind of other 75 or 76 troopy six-seat modified cab with the rear cutoff?
Cheers for any thoughts.
