Greetings all,

I called Georg at cruiser brothers yesterday with the same question:

Has anyone ever had an issue with the c-clip on the output shaft being slightly too large to allow the intermediate piece between the gearbox and transfer case to sit properly? It appears the outer ring should be perfectly mated with the inner diamter machined into the piece.

George confirmed the ring is #1 absolutely needed, and #2 that is should fit, albeit, with a bit of persuasion. What am I missing here? Any tricks?

Currently, my output shaft C-clip appears to be 0.8-1mm to large in outer diameter when I put digital calipers on it. It cannot be closed any smaller. I have cleaned the valley in the bearing free of debrees as well as the ring. The ring fits snug as can be. I drifted the shaft out slightly thinking maybe the gearbox body was binding the ring... not the situation. If I remove the ring it fits in the machined body no problem, but there is no gap in the split ring.

I was thinking of slowly sanding down the diameter a little to fit and then polishing the ring. Thoughts? I know (98%) its the correct 6308N bearing and ring. The high spot the ring causes does not allow the intermediate piece to mount up flush, stalling the transfer case rebuild at step 1. Fun stuff.

Just hoping for others' experience and thoughts.
