on our last driving adventure up four peaks. my cb raidio could not be heard at any distance . the anttena is touching the hard top? any thoughts.

Howdy! If you transmit when the anttena is grounded out, like touching a steel top, it can damage the internals. Might want to take it to one of the places suggested in a previous thread on here a few weeks ago about CB repair. John

got one of these?

Just insulate it you should be ok. Also the top of the antenna should be above the roof AFAIK

Suspect it's the same issue that killed mine (antenna rattled lose form the base when Alvin, Cayce and I were involved in an in depth conversation about cows).:hhmm:

Or, go with the fiberglass "firestix" type.
Still haven't sent mine in yet, post up what it costs to fix it..:D

I'll do the same if I beat you to it..;)

Get a wilson 1000 antenna mount it to the roll cage on top or whatever you have metal to mount it to and call it a day they are the best antennas you can get and are trouble free.

well i got a fire stick . ill change the mount .ill put swr meeter on it an check the out put .just the top of the fire stick need to be over the top of the vehicle.

Post up what you find after replacing the antenna, that was going to be my next step, but like Inkpot said, I think we fried something internal..
I'll try to get mine into the shop this next week and get some .02..

Let's hope it's something cheep!
