I'm looking at a 2016 LC with 80k miles. If I purchase it, I would be the 3rd owner. The pics and CarFax look good. It appears to have been lifted and has a snorkle too.

Anything specific to look out for mechanically or otherwise during the pre-purchase inspection? Any and all advice is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Is it blue and on bronze Method wheels? If so, it was modded by a member/former member, “kjnarmyfj”

Lmao you beat me to it. Nice!

Literally my first thought after reading the lift and snorkel part, was to ask if it belongs to a mud member. Small Land Cruiser World we live in.

Is there something I should know about the vehicle or the modder?

Am I looking at a lemon?

At the risk of being rude -- I see that "kjnarmyfj” is no longer active on the site -- did something happen?

Oh no, I was just saying it’s a small world and that chances are that if it is a modded LC, that it belongs to a mud member.

I don’t know anything about that car or member, but if you look through his posts, I’m guessing he will have some insight whether via a build thread or other posts.

And you are not being rude at all brother no worries there. Ask whatever you want to/need to, it’s your money and your dream car! I personally just want to see everyone else as happy with their cars as I am with mine, and I asked a literal 1000 questions before picking mine up. Really glad I did!

Thanks. Appreciate it. In other news, I just checked, and according to the CarFax, he put 17k miles on it...in six months.

Uh wut?

That’s probably a good sign right? Lots of miles means daily highway commutes, and those are not as tough on the car as less miles on the weekends/trails.

I did 25k miles in past 9 months alone!

You can search and read forum member's posts. Do that with his and you'll likely learn a lot.

Have a Toyota dealer or qualified cruiser shop do a PPI. Should be easy to find in Austin; and if the rig isn't local you can search for shops in the vehicle's area. Do that and you should be fine. 80K is nothing on these rigs, so I wouldn't be scared. The only issue is that mileage doesn't greatly impact resale value of the LC's, so without knowing what you're paying, I suggest looking at lower mileage examples. If it's only $2-3K more, why not get one with 30K less miles?
