Hello all,

Recently I got the windshield replaced by a dealership in H-town. They messed up one side by drilling holes 😔. I need to get that fixed, will they fix it? I have an appointment with them. What's the best way to approach this?

Can I go through my insurance and charge their insurance?

Yeah.. file for insurance. I'd put JB weld and seal the holes properly. Do a proper welding job when you are ready to do a complete paint job.

I mean, I don’t know that I’d trust them after that hack job… definitely bring insurance in the game. Any chance you can look around for a more experienced installer?

What a hack job. Sorry you're dealing with that. Definitely seal the holes for the time being.

I'll be curious how this plays out if you go insurance route. I had a dash damaged due to mechanics carelessness during an evaporator replacement and insurance wouldn't cover it (my insurance). Had to take the shop to small claims. Maybe it depends on insurance coverage or maybe my insurer just didn't want to cover it....

Thanks for the replies guys, I went and showed it to them. They are committing to fixing the error by replacing the weather stripping and filling the holes. I'm not clear on how they are going to fill those holes. I will get an update soon. I'm going to give them a chance.

The other side was ok even though they failed to put on rivets but at least they didn't drill holes. I put rivets on by myself, easy job.

Keep an eye for any water getting into the kick panel where most of the electronics live. Water and electronics does not blend well.

Sorry you’re dealing with this frustration. I gave a local installer several chances to fix a bad job on the wife’s LX570. They never did get it right..highway speeds sound like howling winds. Hopefully your story will be different.
