I know you can bypass the computer by grounding one side but what if the solenoid itself is shot? I've got one ordered from @ToyotaMatt but am down until it arrives. Truck is driveable, kind of, but a pain in the ass to keep it running....have to maintain 1500 RPM or higher all the time.

Yeah - that solenoid is a plunger. It has to be energized to move the rod so it won’t block fuel.

Ok this is a full outback bush fix idea…..
Since you’re replacing it anyway, no harm in damaging it.
First try running the engine with the solenoid O-ring at the end of its plunger removed. That oring seals off the gas. Maybe if it’s missing, gas will be able to flow by.

If that doesn’t work — time for more extreme measures…. I wonder what would happen if the end of the plunger rod was cut off?
My guess is that that the engine would run fine - exactly as if the solenoid was always open.
Of course you’d likely experience dieseling at shut down without a FCS but that’s just a minor annoyance and can be prevented by turning off the engine then immediately letting out the clutch while in gear to stall the engine.

These ideas are guesses. I don’t know-if mangling a FCS will work.
