Hi all,

I'm planning some diy bullbars for my PZ70 short wheel base cruiser. It will be incorporating a winch mount too. I've trawled all sources for months on ideas... But the thing I struggle to find or get clear imagery of, is the best solution for mounting bullbars and winch plates to the actual chassis mounts... The horns are super short, so I'm imaging there could being a lot of cantilever action to build a bullbar out far enough to fit a winch behind it.

Alot of folks weld extended mounts on the chassis but that is illegal/ requires a whole lot of paperwork in NZ.

So rather than pure bullbar porn, I'm hoping I could get a thread going with more focus on 'mounting bracket' ideas. Sounds strange but we all have our fetishes.

Can you make a tray that fits with the original frame ends? Then build a bar off of that.
Yes indeed. That is the current plan. Just interested to see how others have gone about it in terms of strength and using the mounting points available.

I've been contemplating something a kin to 40 series brackets that go each side of the horns and then the top and bottom of the bullbar bolts on. Like the... hopefully... Attached image.

End goal is to absolutely minimise how far out front the bar sits without any permanent modification to the truck. No welding to chassis, no cutting grille. Everything good that I found is pretty much a 40 series idea which needs to be repurposed to a 70. So many 70 bars are downright ugly or look the same as the next one (Personal opinion).

Cool cool. I like the incorporation of the mounting points to the left and right of chassis rails... Not sure what they are actually called.

I see you have opted to weld directly to the vehicle chassis horns which is a no go for me. Depending where you are based it is considered a significant change to the vehicle and requires additional certifications.

I'm tossing up the style of winch myself. You've done well with the bar cutouts e.t.c. to get it fitting. I'm almost skewing towards a winch plate that sits on top of the chassis horns at the moment. (40 Series Example below. And a glimpse at the style of bar mounting brackets.)

The closer to the body I can get the fairlead, the better I'll deem my goal achieved.
