Bull Bar questions

Would anyone know as to whether a bull bar for a 98-02 LandCruiser would fit a 98-02 LX470? Can't get any responses from manufacturers. In particular I've been considering the ARB Sahara Bar and TJM T3 bumpers for several months now. I see ARB offers one for the LC and one for the LX470. TJM only lists the LC for its bar. I don't believe Christo manufactures a bumper at this time for the LX470 either.

The TJM is significantly cheaper and would more than likely serve my needs which are:

• knocking down sapplings on trails
• light frontal collision protection
• of course housing of a winch

I am in no rush and if I can procure an used bar that is fine. I want to come close to a color match with powder coating so being used can offset that cost.

Don't know anything about the 100 series, but I'd assume they'd fit. Moving this up so you get one from the grocery guys

The LX470 is the same as the US-version UZJ-100 Land Cruiser, except for the headlights, grille, electronic gizmos (like the night vision gaget!), interior luxury, and other cosmetic stuff. More importantly, the chassis and the IFS are the same. In fact, just to get another opinion, contact Christo Slee via www.sleeoffroad.com as I think he's building up an LX470 now.

The only 100series that are different are the FZJ-100 and the HZJ-100, which both had front live axles... and not IFS.

Thanks guys! I new most of the changes were only skin deep but I was worried bumper mounting points may be different.

Well, just for general info here is the response from TJM regarding their T3 bull bar.

Thank you for your interest in TJM. The T1 and T17 are the only bars available for the LX470. The T3 for the 100 Series Land Cruiser will not fit the LX470. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I didn't ask what prevents it from being used but I guess I'll take their word for it. Looks like i'll get the Sahara bar from ARB when the time comes.

Junk, If you don't know anything (which is typical) about 100's why are you posting up here?

I am not sure thats right, the latter 100's do not use the same bull bars as 98-2002(?) the same year lexus and Cruiser would be the same but the latters ones have something different about the front end(so the other bar won't fit)

Alan does custom bull bars but the problem we ran into with the 100 is the way the lights slant. Designing it was tricky when you try to match the bars with the lines of the truck.

The ARB bars are split in 2002. I tried a later model >02 one on a 98 LX470 and it did not fit. The front frame horns are not the same. I am getting a combo bar (not sahara) next week and will be fitting it to a LX470. I will re-post on the findings.

Rather than start up a new post, I thought i bring this one back to the top since my questions are related...

Christo has confirmed that the new ARB Deluxe bar will not work on the LX470 and my only option is the Sahara. He also mentioned that they have never installed one on a newer 03 and up LX470. ARB is giving me mixed answers. So my questions are the following:

Anyone here with a newer (04 and up) LX470 have an ARB Sahara installed? From my search, I don't believe we have anyone here.
My concern is that If I order it and find out that the darn thing won't fit, having to ship it back is going to be hassle. Perhaps someone could snap some pictures for me on the mounting setup on the older LX470s so that I can compare to mine.

In the Oct '05 issue of Landcruiser magazine, there's an article on the new Beijing--Mongolia eco challenge. They're driving an ARB-equipped HDJ100 w/ sahara bar, rear tow bumper, safari snorkel & roof rack (looks like 16" factory alloy wheels, MTR tires...they didn't switch to 17" and 18"'s for JDM until this or last year). Granted it's not the LC Cygnus/LX470, I'm pretty sure it's '03+.

My '98 might be slightly different than your '04 though.

ARB has a seperate part number for the LX Sahara bumper, so I agree it won't fit. My question is, will the Sahara bumper fit a newer (03 and up) LX?
