I guess the street-sweeper got my old thread.....well I had to put the old Toyota back on the road this past week. So a little Toyota praise, even though they don't need it around here.
My f-150 I've been daily driving, started running really bad and I figured my Toyota would run better(even after sitting up for 2 years).
So my dad(its been parked at his shop) charged the battery, started it, got it inspected, and drove it around a little bit last week. It ran great except, trying to cruise on the Hwy in 5th, it would sputter/pop and bog down. and it wouldn't have enough power to maintain speed. We changed the fuel filter, cleaned the air filter(K&N), and checked everything else. It got a little better after running it on the hwy a couple time, about 1 hour of hwy time total, it would at least maintain 70 in 5th on flat road. I decided that it prolly just needed to work out the old gunk built up in the injectors and such.
So, I left Franklin Sunday morning headed back home to Shreveport. I topped the gas(premium) off in NI, and added some more injector cleaner(as I had the last time I topped it off). After getting pass Lafayette she seemed to run a little better. Stopped just north of Alex to top it off again, added little more cleaner. And she ran great the rest of the way home. No more popping or bogging down, and I can pickup speed going up overpasses in 5th. She runs like she's supposed to.
And with the hood open, at idle, its still quieter than my wife's 2007 4 CYL Nissan Versa.
So anyway, I'm proud of my old Toyota. She's came to my rescue when I desperately needed a vehicle.

Trail Gear just scooped up Longfield. Anyone want to buy a pre-TG set of Longs for an 80? No low-ballers, I'm sure they'll fetch top dollar...

Glad to hear it bud there is something to be said about that Toyota engineering. As much as I love my Cummins I was preaching to it when I climbed under it before we left for Orlando to do a final road check there are no grease certs on any of the steering or rear ujoints besides the replacement moog tie rod end I added and I already have a bad knuckle ujoint on the front axle. Can it really cost that much to put a ujoint with a grease cert my Toys have the factory ujoints with over 200K![]()
Longfield quality and cheap prob won't go together, but I've been wrong before.
Longfield's, under Bobby's rule were manufactured by RCV. According to the press release it looks like they will continue to be made in the USA. Hopefully that doesn't change.
was wondering why RCV just didn`t start listing the Toyota`s
guess under contract to Bobby now TG must have bought it
being there is no other axle out there no need to lower price IMO.
or they just bought the nameinquiring minds want to know

not sure what the deal is on current MFG`s thoughts have had many sealed no zerk components over the years if lubed & don`t leak go to go.had a customers 2011 GMC one ton dually in last summer zeros all over it I put over 1 1/2 -10 oz tubes of grease in it didn`t pop a single boot this thing was dry sad. since most people do not service there own vehicle anymore & oil change places don`t do service anymore not much point to put a grease zerk if no one has or uses a grease gun![]()
