If anyone remembers the OLD filters on the F and 2F, they were huge. I used to run them exclusively...haven't see any hardcore evidence to prove or disprove which is better. That said, I am sure that the smaller one is cheaper to make... :)

Did any of you fawkers work today??? I pop in and now it's gonna take me 2 hours to catch up on all the threads! :flipoff2:

me!

i certainly remember a site thet mike had clued me in on many years ago and i remember the guy actually had cut up and dismantled every oil filter available at that time. he said the same fram was not great either. i also remember another crackpot fellow on the net had made some sort of filter canister that a whole roll of toilet paper into and suppossedly the paper acted as the filter. seemed logical, if the oil did pass through the roll.........but my ears aren't pointy enough .

found a place with several brands of the large style high capacity oil filters online. they also had a denso brand for around 4.00 a pop. not bad.

OK. What the hell happened when I was in Mexico shooting Doves? You're stripping down the 40 and getting rid of it?

A nice variety of filters on that site. The ones I looked up were the standard size though. I picked up the Wix and some Rotella today and you can see the coke can is about the same height of the regular filter and next to it is the 2qt filter. More oil more filter. :)

Scott we need details on the 79' I'm sure we all know somone that will take that machine of of your hands. I have a friend that ask me everytime I see him to sell him mine. Another good place is the UL football games. I drove mine last year to a few games, if i needed the money I had some very good offers from some guys that looked like they had the money to pay.

Sorry bout that... Been only popping in and out of mud lately. I wan't trying to avoid you, Dan... sorry bud. The deal w/ the 40 is that I have no storage at all.. and I knew that before I got the Troopy. Bottom line is that I paid "too much" for the 40 ($10,500 ). Now if you talk about $1,000 in shipping, $1,000 - $1,200 worth of tires, $250 rear seat, $250 center console, $300+ winch bumper, $1000 winch, etc... etc.. etc... It was quickly turning into a very expensive trail rig. It's not really what I had in mind in a trail rig that was still w/ much work to be done. If I had "stolen" it for around $6,000, I'd be set! I actually got it to restore in a "pristine" way..and to do that right, it would need a new 3/4 tub. The prices of the CCOT tubs was pretty much the nail in the coffin. (fawkers :flipoff2:)

It runs like a top and I LOVE the truck. If I had a shop or just more storage, I'd keep it. However, w/ the Troopy taking up some time and $$$, I'll let this one go and get another 40 down the road. I can't imagine not having one. For now... I'll sell this one.

That bings up the topic of $$. As I said, I paid 10.5 for it but the day Landry and I looked at it, I don't think I'd pay 10.5 again. I honestly think that the rig is worth ~ $7500 - $8,000 back to "stock" as I got it. and asked Landry to speak up if he thought differently. I don't feel like this is a "steal" of a deal in any way for someone, but think that I'm not cheating anyone either...especially if one of our guys ended up w/ it. I'm not gonna pitch the rig and anyone can PM Landry or Theriot as they know the truck. I would want them to be 100% honest b/c it may go to someone in the area.

I'll miss the truck... if it doesn't sell.... cool ;)

;p

... If your getting rid of stuff, i'll take the winch on the front of the 79' also. just trowing it out there.

Thanks bud, I'll let you know on the Aussie. As most know, I have a stash of tons of new cruiser stuff hidden in my closet..lol. However, most will bolt right up to the "Long 40"...the Troopy. This would include the Aussie locker and the winch and bumper. I'll let you guys know if I want to sell the Aussie... I always dream of ARB... who doesn't!

:crybaby:

Different time, different place, more storage...I'd keep her. Just can't do it right now. Didn't think it would be so hard. It would be one thing if I were trading up or something. This is just "down-sizing"...it sucks! Hopefully, I'll find another sooner or later...when the Troopy is done or when the Troopy goes in parts ;)

Thanks for your time gents.

well let's see the rig in "stock form" and see if the price is right so to speak.

i know that the truck is very nice and i would like to give it the final eye for that price.

ya driving it to the meeting?

there is just a lot competition out there in that price range........

Agreed and no worries. That 60 series is way more sweet. I don't think it's a "barn find" for that range... Landry got a "steal"

I should say 25 and tell my wife it didn't sell. :D

It'll sell with no problem its a great rig for someone who wants to drive off and have fun with it just the way it is. The drivetrain is very solid and reliable you can drive it off to where ever you wanna go without touching it. Its also a great base for someone wanting to restore one because its clean. The tub has its cancer spots but a talented welder with some time on his hands can fix it right up. It'll make someone a good rig and a happy owner "I Guarantee It". :D

I think she already knows you want to try that move bud. And I don't blame you.

:flipoff2:

Thanks to you!!! LOL...

She told me today that "Marty says that he doesn't think you're trying to sell it too hard."

thanks pal! :flipoff2: LOL...
