Yeah, I get a kick out of watching EXTREME anything...wouldn't do it myself...I'm too much of a grandpaw...lol...anyway, I was reading last year's TLCA (the one with the blue 45 pickup on the cover...may/june I think) and their the White Trash group "tearing it up...as usual"...I really enjoyed reading that and watching others take it to the extreme I suppose. I am just too relaxed for that nowadays...I picture myself SNORKEL and all, just CREEPING and CRAWLING thru SLOWLY winching myself around to a remote, practically untouch spot where I can fish...perhaps a rocky riverbed......that's why we need to get in with the Kisatchie guys...there's the most beautiful terrain around, and we can't really use it...talk about frustrating!

That area around Longleaf Vista trail is spectacular....and Red Dirt...beautiful...rocky ledges, waterfall, etc...

Yea, those folks just suck. We've been trying, I've called them, Marty's asked when he was there, LA4X4 talks to them on a monthly basis and there are other folks in the Lafayette area asking as well. Maybe they'll tire and give in so we can enjoy it again. :)

I want to go, even if I have to have a babysitter with me...LOL...

I'm still up for a camping trip out there, we were suppose to do that with the boys some time ago. We need to fit that in before it gets to hot. We can post it up so any club members wanting to make the trip is welcome.

who exactly are you guys dealing with in the forrestry service?
i have a personal friend who is one of the district managers and i believe that he can help us a great deal on the backside of networking the whole kisatchie thing. at one point he gave me some maps for 4x4 only trails and they were only shared with atv's half of the year if i am not mistaken. i was getting this info when i was trying to start the other landcruiser club last year.

It's extremely frustrating when you go up to Forest Hills and the motorcycle and 4 wheeling crowd can go tearing all over the place and we can't. And all of that Kisatche Forest just sitting there...Very frustrating.

Now, I'm all for camping. I like Indian Creek if anyone is interested. I wouldn't mind just running those old, dirt back roads.

Critics Corner...

1. Not to change the topic... I'm always up for camping. However, I need to re-seal my tent first. ...and I'm checking the weather. ... and I'm packing my clothes in zip locks. ...and I wish I had a pop up.

2. Now to change the subject: ...any of you see Blades of Glory??? OH MY GOSH!!!!!!! I love Will Ferrell (sp?). However, that was 1.25 hours of my life that I'll never get back. Wow. What else can I say. Someone please tell me you enjoyed it.

I would love to do the camping thing. My only problem is that my whole crew would want to go. There is no way my wife and daughters would let me leave them behind. So....if it's a "boys" thing, I'd have to pass. Indian Creek is a great idea. I love the primitive sites there. I've never caught much fish in the lake, but it is always pretty.

Nah, not a "boy" or "girls" thing to me... I enjoyed all the Schwings and the little Schwinglets as well.

My wife will skip unless she can have a shower and not tee tee hanging off of Landry's Bumper Dumper! ----> No Beth butt here

Modifications Thread

Hey, what do you guys think about starting a new thread where everyone can list their Model and year, along with the mods they have done to their vehicles (or the mods that were there already when they bought it)? We could also expand on that with comments about those mods with respect to their performance, the effort and cost to make them as well as if we would be willing to help others perform the same on their vehicles. I know I would like to have more info about the 4x4 labs steering that Mike has. Maybe someone would like to know about my air horns! Does this sound like something that might be of some value?

That sounds great, I just mentioned the boys as we were planning that sometime back and didn't get to go. If the whole family is in thats great too. I'll start a thread and we'll discuss possible dates that we can make it happen so all that are interested can join in. :D

Dan I've talked the folks at the kisatchie main office on two occasions and they've sent me all the info and maps of the kisatchie area but said they only allowed 4-wheelers and bike and that even 4-Wheelers with aggresive tires were not being permitted on the trails. I also tried the office for the Sate Parks but they wouldn't give me the time of day and said they didn't allow those activities at any of the Louisiana State Parks. LA4X4 has been working the kisatchie board for the forestry service for sometime now and they mention the slow to no progress at almost every monthly meeting. If you have a contact than can help us open a dialogue it will be surely welcomed.

It would be cool if we had a little spread of land and we made our own 4x4 trail. Get some earth movers out there, make some cuts, make some mounds, bring out some timber and rocks. That would be sweet.

I also keep eyeballing that long mound of dirt along the Sugarmill Pond development. It'sjust calling to be climbed.

Alright you Big Dogs, I just made it out of "Rookie" status to "Junior" status. It aint much, but I'm glad to be moving up the ranks. I guess 75 posts was the magic number. Look out Larry, I'm coming to get ya;)
