If you broke a lug stud, it's a fair amout of work to fix it. I would do all 6 while you're at it, since some bonehead probably over tensioned all of them at some point. You have to pull the hub off with the rotor, then drive the remains of the stud back through the hub and rotor, then reinstall in reverse. Toyota studs are easier to fit than the ones from NAPA. I would not try to do it on the truck. If you arn't talking about the lug stud, then explain exactly what is broken.

im not talking about the studs..sorry for the confusion..i am talking about the hub bolts..i dont know the right name for them...but looking at the front wheel you have 3 diff. sets of bolts ones on the outside were you lock the hub and then a second set.. after that... i broke a bolt off of the that ( the second set)..the next size down from the wheel studs...a 12mm wrench fits on them... thanks for the help

I lost one a while back when I was rebuilding my hubs. I went to a local pick&pull and got one from a mini truck hub (Same bolts).

Removal is another story. If the head twisted off I suggest pulling all the bolts and removing the hub. Weld a nut to the broken bolt. Let it cool a little and see if you can remove it using the nut. This has worked for me in the past but not always.

yeah the head twisted off and bolt the broke off just enough that it is below the lip..is it threaded into the hub? so i could not simply pound it out??

is it a big deal to wheel with this hub bolt broken off?? i read in TT that is happenes on the trail somtimes and dudes can fix em under 20 mins...so it would leave me in the time frame of 2-4 hours (haha)...i thought i could hit it out LIKE a wheel stud??

anyone know anywhere else to get the bolt, no junk yards around here

You should fix it but I would not loose a lot of sleep about it for normal wheeling. Try welding a nut, easy out, helicoil etc.. It might be easier and cheaper to just buy a used hub for it.

lowridetide - I think the studs you are talking about are threaded in. Since it sounds like it's broken off below the face, that means drilling the stud. Since the hub comes off, if possible this would be a lot easier repair if you can use a drill press. Or, maybe I just am not that good with a hand drill...

Good luck.

Hub nut

If I didn't have any junk yards near by I would order one from cruiser parts net. Probably about 4 days and a couple of dollars tops (used). New one probably isn't much either. Troy

ill see what i can do tomorrow after work...someone drop me a line if they find a place to buy a hub bolt/nut....
