Broken Heat Sensor Wire ?? (1 Viewer)

True, but isn't the way the system was designed to work. I have grounded it out, but want to fix it correctly, which will require the bi-metal ground to properly work. I just want to pay the least amount of money for it.

Chitown40 is right. The sensor he's referring to is the original bimetal ground.

Faith and Begorra - you mean that the actual wire from the green plastic assembly is just plain wire? I was thinking the wire itself was the bi-metal compound similar to a fusible link.

The wire is just a wire. When the carb fan stops working, it is usually because of the sensor malfunctioning. The test is to ground out the wire, and if the fan then comes on, it is most likely the sensor. It's hard to find working replacements for them, so the recommended fix is to just ground the wire out.

Try stopping by appliance repair shop and see if they have any extra "range wire" wire that comes with high temp sheath.....seems to be workin' so far on mine.

I just found my sensor has the wire broken off at the sensor, so there's no way I can get it spliced back in there. Do any of you guys have the part number for that handy? This is the female green piece that slides onto the bimetal sensor on the manifold that I need.

Oh and owning both a 60 and an 80, I think they both rock. Like Jimi Hendrix vs. Van Halen, just two different styles...
