broken axle help

I was wheeling yesterday and I broke the front left axle shaft, today I took off the hub, flange so now the axle shaft is exposed, but I cant pull it out. What else do I have to do before i can pull it out?

the inner shaft?

try wiggling the driveshaft while you tug on it...."hopefully" you didn't bugger up the inner splines

well Im pretty sure its a broken birfield because it made a terrible sound when i hit it, and then the front tires stopped spinning and I couldnt turn left at slow speeds. But this is the first time that anything like that has happened so Im not sure.

If all you did was remove the locking hub, then keep going...remove the brake caliper, rotor, and spindle. Rotate the axle until the flat sides on the birf line up with the upper and lower kingpings and it should pull out.
