My neighbor and I wheel from time to time in my backyard and his jeep got suck in a nasty crack. I had overheated my crawler earlier in the night from a punctured radiator so I pulled out the land cruiser to do a quick winch job. I had the transfer case in low but the center diff was not locked, as I was turning around the passenger tire dropped off into about a foot deep hole when I heard a loud POP! Then no movement...
At first I thought maybe it was the front diff but upon inspection I seen this

The boot tore underneath the small clamp and broke somewhere internally. I can't take it apart to inspect it yet as Toyota will warranty it.
Over 200k miles were on the old axles and the only reason I replaced them was for worn out splines. About this time i had also installed icon remote resi shocks. The new factory axles have only 3500 miles on them and I can't see why it would snap other than overextension. Has anyone else had this problem with long travel front shocks?
