This is a pretty easy mod provided a couple of things, first you need to either be running 16" or larger wheels or have very little backspacing if running 15s. Stock 15s won't work without some grinding on the caliper. And second you need to be willing to replace the rotors and calipers and do a little trimming.
93-97 ABS rotors and calipers will bolt straight on provided you trim the backing plate. Brake lines from axle to caliper will need a check for proper fitment but other than that pretty straight forward.
I did mine when I did my front end rebuild last fall, I am running Tundra 17s on my rig too so caliper clearance wasn't an issue. I got all the parts from my local NAPA and trimmed the backing plate to basically create a backing plate eliminator, just a disc with bolt holes in it.
The rotors are substantially larger than the 91-92 rotors so heat dissipation is greatly improved. That thread lays it put pretty well but I will see if I have any pics of my swap. I think he used some slotted rotors, mine are just NAPA stock replacements.
Edit for parts list, and the ABS just means it needs to be for a rig with a full floating rear, some 93-94 models came with semi-floats and will still have the smaller front brakes I think, so 95-97 will guarantee you get the right parts
- 95-97 rotors
- 95-97 calipers (make sure you get new copper gaskets)
- 95-97 Pads (100 series will fit after this mod but I went with standard 80 pads for now)
- Trim down the backing plate to clear the larger rotor
- Possible new axle to caliper soft lines (verify the banjo won't work and also the caliper is slightly farther out so it may pull at full lock)
- Wheels that will clear the caliper as noted above.
I think that is pretty much it, basically all the parts for a standard full brake service on a later model will take care of the swap.
